This discipline requires you to be equipped with the necessary equipment to ensure your own security, Avalanche Victim Detector (AVD) as close as possible to the body, probe and shovel in the backpack constitute an inseparable triptych in your equipment. Knowing how to use this material is essential, which is why we offer a training area for AVD in free of acces. Located at the start of the Pré de L’étoile ski lift, the AVD park is made up of radio beacons that can be found using your AVD. Move closer to the ski lift operators to activate the beacons.

Onced arrived at the Pic de Ratel ski lift, a checkpoint will allow you to make sure your AVD is working properly. This device is also available at the entrance of the Nordic area of La Chalp for ski hikers and glacier climbers.
